Amazing Spiderman 2 Review and TBT: Stacey Keibler

I went to see the screening of Amazing Spiderman 2 last night.  After seeing the trailer for the movie, I had some pretty high hopes for it.  I also really liked the first one.  I am sad to report, this wasn't my favorite.  It was ok, but there was a lot I didn't like about it.  Before I totally nerd out, I will say some of what I didn't like has nothing to do with my nerdery.  I didn't like how sappy and corny it was.  I think the one scene most people didn't like in the first movie was the crane scene.  Because of how cheesy it was.  So what do they do?  Add more in this one!  I don't get it.  On to the nerd stuff...I was worried about Electro when I heard that Jamie Foxx was cast a while ago.  But my fears were eased a bit when I saw the footage.  He obviously doesn't look like the character from the comics, which I understand.  But what I didn't like is that they basically created a whole new characted and still called him Electro.  That is kind of a bummer.  My biggest problem with the movie is that it bogs itself down with storylines I could care less about.  Way too much time spent on Peter Parker's parents.  I read a lot of Spiderman back in the day and never remember them even mentioning his parents.  The story focuses way too much on this.  And the Gwen Stacey stuff was a lot.  I get it.  Give Spidey a love story.  But the whole movie?  Enough.  How about some action?  When they do have action, it looks incredible.  More of that please!  I think it is a bit of a miss.  I would still recommend seeing it in theaters, but I was a bit disappointed.

Since it's TBT and we talked about George Clooney getting engaged this week, it reminded me of a picture I have.  Back in 2001 I did a broadcast from the Sam Adams brewery with a bunch of celebrities like Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg.  It was epic.  One of the celebrities I interviewed was Stacey Keibler, who was a WWE Diva at the time.  Clooney wasn't in the picture yet.  I decided to be a jackass and make it look like I was touching her long legs.  Check it out...
