I might be blurry eyed this morning but I'm pretty sure the Chargers won that game last night. It was one of those super long days for me, that was made even tougher with this cold I have. I collapsed at the end of it. But it was all made worth it with the Chargers win. I was feeling ok about the game until I heard the injury report. When I heard that Jarret Johnson and Donald Butler were both out, I thought, that's it. Andrew Luck is going to carve this team up. Who is going to put pressure on him? I said on the air, the only chance the Chargers have is to run the football and keep Luck on the sidelines. I said that knowing that Ryan Mathews was coming off a concussion and probably wouldn't be up to the task. I was wrong. He had his best game of the season. He ran hard and tough. The Chargers dominated the time of possession. And who put pressure on the QB? The defensive line, that's who. It's been a while since we have heard the names Corey Liuget and Kendall Reyes. They did outstanding jobs of getting to Luck and making him uncomfortable in the pocket. Huge game for the rookie Keenan Allen too. He has stepped up with all the injuries to the Chargers wide receivers. I did feel at the end of the game, with the Chargers only up by 7, that it was deja vu all over again. The Colts got the ball back with 2 minutes left and Luck is known for comebacks. But the defense stepped up again. Who can figure this team out? The same team that laid and egg last week against the Raiders, beat the Cowboys and Colts with major injuries on both sides of the ball. Pretty crazy. They better not celebrate too much, because you don't want to be the team that loses to the Jaguars next week.
