Wrestlemania Report Card

Yesterday I was pretty hyped to watch Wrestlemania. It was my birthday, so that all I really wanted to do. I sat back and watched the card unfold and was totally confused right off the bat. The card layout was weird AF. So here goes, my Wrestlemania report card:

Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal: I love battle royals. So I kind of look forward to this match. Even though all it is a way to get all the guys who don't have a match on the card. I'm glad Matt Hardy got the win and Bray Wyatt coming out was pretty cool. Grade: B

Cruiserweight championship: Who cares. Grade: Don't care

Women's Battle Royal: This was totally weird. You could see a mile a way the last two would be Bailey and Sasha Banks. So when it came down to those two and Bailey threw her out to win, it was like, ok makes sense. But then Naomi coming in and not being eliminated and throwing Bailey out, made zero sense. Didn't get that. Grade: C-

Intercontinental Triple Threat: I like that the card started with these guys. Three guys in their prime that can really work. Was annoyed that the champion came out 2nd. Makes no sense. Rollins ends up winning his first IC title. Solid match to start the main card. Grade: B+

Charlotte vs. Asuka: WTF? Why is this the 2nd match of the night?  I figured with the WWE women's revolution, this would be before the main event. But 2nd? This was actually a pretty good match. Charlotte is head and shoulders better than everybody else. Asuka comes close. So they put on a good match. Grade: B+

US Title Fatal Fourway: Pointless match. Didn't need to be on the main card. Jinder wins the belt. Not on Rusev day! Grade: D+

Ronda Rosey & Kurt Angle vs. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon: Again why is this happening so early?  Thought this would be one of the final matches. I didn't have high expectations going in. You have two guys who wrestle like once a year and 2 women who don't wrestle at all. Not sure what to expect. I have to say, #1 Ronda did better than I expected. The match was very entertaining. #2 She needs to slow down. She is gonna hurt someone. #3 She needs better ring gear. She did that in her first UFC fight too. Got ring gear that didn't fit. Overall, very entertaining match. Grade: A-

Tag Team Triple Threat: You knew going in the Bludgeon Brothers should dominate. They did and won the belts. Whatever. Grade: C+

John Cena vs. The Undertaker: The set up for this was a little strange. I liked the swerve with Elias. That made me laugh. The Taker finally comes out and squashes Cena. Seems like a set up for a longer match between the two. Cool seeing Taker. Grade: B

Daniel Bryan & Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn: I was excited to see Danial Bryan back. This was basically a beatdown of Shane for most of the match. But there were some good spots. The crowd was hyped to see Bryan. Him getting the pin was good, rather than the regualr screw job he usually gets. Grade: B+

Alexa Bliss vs. Nia Jax: This is hard to pull off. A 5 foot woman vs. a 300 pound behemoth. But they did a pretty good job. Nia ends up winning the belt. Not a big surprise. Grade: B-

AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura: They kept promoting this as a dream match. It is if you followed Japan wrestling. But I don't, so I wasn't as hyped. But I figured it would be a good match. It was. It wasn't Earth shattering or steal the show, but it was solid. I liked the heel turn at the end by Nakamura. That was good. Grade: B+

Cesaro & Sheamus vs. Braun Strowman & Mystery Partner: I was excited to see who Braun would bring out as his partner. I was thinking it could be Jeff Hardy since the Bar put him out. But no, Braun picked someone from the audience to be his partner. Kind of lame. But then when he pulled some kid out, I sort of got into it. I was laughing when the kid tagged in. He looked so scared. It was actually pretty funny that they won and this kid is now a tag team champion. Not bad. Grade: B+

Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns. Ok, here we go. The main event. What is going to happen?  Well, not much. This is the same match these two had a couple years ago. Brock smashes Roman for most of the match. Roman somehow survives. Roman makes a comeback. Brock still prevails. What? Nothing special happens?  No run outs?  Brock doesn't drop the belt?  What was the point of this? To just make Brock a bigger monster than he already is?  Made no sense. But that's the WWE these days. Grade: D

Overall, this was a pretty weak Wrestlemania. There were no big surprises. There were some good matches but nothing special. The suffered from Too Many Match-itis. Overall Grade: C+
