Dog Epiphany!!!!

I had an epiphany this weekend about this whole getting a dog issue. If you haven't heard my 10 year old daughter has been begging to get a dog for over a year now. For the last year we have been talking about it and making her prove herself and be more responsible. Well we are finally to the point of pulling the trigger. But the issue has been that we can't agree on a type of dog. I have been pushing for a medium size dog that will protect the yard and house and will be good for her to go on walks alone with around the neighborhood when she is a teen. Since day 1 she has says she only wants a small dog. A dog she can cuddle and sleep with. Lots of guilt trips about her being an only child and this will be her best friend, etc.... But I kept pushing for the medium size dog. Well on Saturday we went to a Human Society event at Kearny Mesa Subaru. There were some super cute big and medium dogs as well as a some pit bull puppies.....

Even though all of these dogs were so stinking cute, she wanted nothing to do with them. The big dogs were too big and even though she played with the puppies she said she wouldn't want one cause they would get too big. I finally realized, if I want her to truly love and care for this dog why am I trying to push a dog on her that she doesn't want or feel comfortable with. So we are now on the hunt to adopt a dog more like this. This is just one of the many pictures she has saved off the internet as an example of her future best friend.............
