My Top 10 Metallica Songs

This might have been the hardest Top 10 list yet. Its crazy to think about about many songs Metallica has and how many kick ass. To narrow it down to 10 was very difficult. Their songs and different albums are very different. From the early days to the stuff now. I found that I lean more towards early Metallica. You will see that some of their biggest songs will not be here, but it's MY list, so save it!

1.Master of Puppets – Master of Puppets – Best song from maybe the best heavy metal album of all time. The opening riff takes off and your done. No argument. The Best.

2.One – And Justice For All – This is their epic piece that blew me away. The video was awesome too. My favorite James melancholy vocals.

3.Seek And Destroy – Kill Em All – First song I ever heard from the band. I knew I was listening to something different. It got me right away. Great live.

4.For Whom The Bell Tolls – Ride The Lightening – The bell clangs and you know. It’s time. Killer lyrics. Great riffs. Such a bad ass song. Has never worn on me like some of the others.

5.Welcome Home (Sanitarium) – Master of Puppets – Both this one and Fade To Black were the songs that showed this band could do more than play fast. Of course it kicks in and gets you by the end.

6.Fade To Black – Ride The Lightening – This is Metallica’s first slow song. You started to see the band had some range. They didn’t have to play just fast thrash metal. They could do a lot more.

7.Ride The Lightening – Ride The Lightening – From their sophomore album. The image is on millions of t-shirts. Killer, fast tune.

8.Holier Than Thou – Black – Fires me up. If I wanted to get pumped up for a big game or to work out, this would be the song to choose.

9.Battery – Master Of Puppets – I love how this song starts and then gets to melting your face. Always been one of my favorites.

10.Whiskey In The Jar – Garage Inc. - Wouldn’t expect a cover to make the top 10, but Metallica has done some great ones. Their cover of Bob Segar’s Turn the Page is awesome. And this one which was actually a Thin Lizzy song first. But I love their version way more. The only newer song on the list.

There it is. So many other songs could have made the list. Orion, My Friend of Misery, Don’t Tread On Me, Harvester of Sorrow, Creeping Death. Now let's get to the obvious. Where are all there big hits? I've heard them so many times, I just don't enjoy them as much as I do these on the list. If I were to make a Top 10 Greatest Metallica songs ever, Enter Sandman would be 2 or 3. Unforgiven, Sad But True, Nothing Else Matters, Wherever I May Roam...all songs that would be on that list. But not mine.
