16-Year Old Girl's Head Is Shaved As Punishment For Bullying

The father of a 16-year-old girl shared his disappointment on Reddit when his daughter got in trouble at school for making fun of a girl who had lost all of her hair to chemotherapy. The father, who has sole custody of his daughter wrote, "Not how I've raised my daughter to treat people and it truly disgusted me to hear how she acted from her principle," he wrote. "She showed no remorse. She tried to excuse her behavior by saying the girl in question deserved it. Again, I don't care what she said, that behavior is inexcusable."

The father explained that there was already bad blood between the two girls, since his daughter is dating the girl’s ex-boyfriend, and during an argument his daughter pulled the girl’s wig off. After talking got him no where, he decided to do something that would really make an impression. "I came up with the punishment because I thought my daughter had an extreme lack of empathy for the girl she bullied," he says, adding that her actions felt even more personal because he lost his mother to breast cancer when he was in his twenties.

Here are the options the dad presented his daughter with:

Option A) I will throw away every single piece pf electronics she owns, and never buy them for her another again.

Option B) She will go to the hairdresser and get a cue ball haircut. As in, a completely shaved head, as bald as the hairdresser can do. No wig. She has to go to school like that until it grows back.

His daughter selected option B, because she didn't want to be without her electronics.

While some agreed that the dad needed to take a stand, others thought the punishment was too harsh...

  • "Your daughter (is bad) for bullying that girl, obviously. But you went too far with this punishment," one person noted, while another added, “Your daughter is a bully because you are a bully," and another person even suggested it was "child abuse."
  • "This is an appropriate punishment for that behavior that will hopefully result in one child being compassionate and thinking empathetically before they start bullying people,” one person shared.

The dad noted that so far his daughter is still angry with him and added, "If she shows genuine remorse I'd get her a temporary wig of some kind," adding, "but as I say she hasn't done that yet."
