Rising out of San Diego, California, Ki, the multi-talented powerhouse, consists of five charismatic twenty-somethings bringing an eccentric sound that is fresh and loaded with evocative storytelling.
Influenced from the undertones of classic rock, the sound of Ki is a satisfying hybrid of fierce rock and uplifting modern pop woven with elements of folk and soul. At the core of the songwriting and production, long time friends Kiley Halpern and Erik Pierce master harmonious lyrics and timeless melodies, powered by the alluring vocals of Halpern. Ki’s music provokes reminiscent sensations of the classics yet excites the inner spirit to a new experience that has been deemed “transformative.” With sound similarities to the likes of Imagine Dragons, Paramore, and Twenty One Pilots and rooted in those such as The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and Deep Purple, Ki has embraced a distinct soundscape that’s creating an avalanche of momentum.
In 2015, Ki demonstrated a breakthrough year becoming notorious for their live performance and entertaining antics. This enthusiasm brought them notable acclamations, press and opportunities including an unforgettable performance at the inaugural KAABOO Music Festival sharing the line-up with iconic musicians (No Doubt, The Killers, Zac Brown Band), receiving a “Best New Artist” nomination and later dominating a string of frenzied SXSW 2016 gigs as a featured artist for their first out-of-state shows, all within their first year of being a band.
Shortly after the chaos, Ki took on the exhilarating mission of building their privately owned, state-of-the-art studio so they could self-produce their highly-anticipated debut album, to be released 2017.
