White Female Cop Acquitted In Shooting Death Of Unarmed Black Man

Yesterday (5/17) a jury acquitted officer Betty Shelby, a white Tulsa, Oklahoma police officer who was charged with manslaughter after the shooting death of an unarmed black man last year.

In 2016 officer Betty Shelby pulled over Terence Crutcher in September with an encounter that began with a stalled vehicle on the road.  Crutcher was on hallucinogenic drugs at the time of the shooting but no further details have been released.

Crutcher's family have stressed that he had his hands up and was not being aggressive during the encounter in which he was fatally shot.  The family has expressed their disappointment with the verdict.
