If You Drive One Of These Cars You Could Receive Money For Faulty Airbags

Millions of car owners could be entitled to part of a $15.8 million dollar settlement for cars that have been outfitted with faulty Takata airbags.

If you own a Toyota, Subaru, BMW or Mazda your car may be one of the ones affected you could possibly receive a check for $500 sometime this year.

The airbags have been proven to explode and send shrapnel into the drivers and passengers.  So far the issue has been linked to at least 11 deaths in the U.S. and 180 injuries.

The recall has included Ford, GM, Honda and Nissan as well but they aren't included in this particular settlement.

This recall has sent Takata company to the brink of bankruptcy and it's shares have plummeted 84% in the past 3 years.

In January the company plead guilty to corporate criminal charges and agree to pay a $1 billion fine.  Most of the money went to carmakers who have been handling the airbag repairs.
