Human Remains Found Inside Barrel In San Diego Bay

Yesterday (10/12), a decomposed body was found stuffed inside a barrel and chained to a block in the San Diego Bay, police say.

Around 12:30pm a diver discovered a 55-gallon drum floating in the water about 200-feet from shore in Chula Vista.  The barrel had been chained to a cinder block.

The diver claimed that there was an unusual odor coming from the barrel and human remains were found when the police opened it.

Currently the age and gender of this person is unknown and weren't able to find or contact the person that initially reported it.

San Diego County Medical Examiner took the body and will determine the cause of death and help identify the person.
