Listen to Approaching Fiction's "The Hive" and interview with Marty
Approaching Fiction formed in San Diego in 2011. They rose from the ashes of their previous name "Theleventhour". With a fresh start and renewed drive, the band's heavy sound quickly caught the attention of San Diego indie label Pacific Records. Signed in 2011, the band immediately entered the studio to work on their debut album. In 2012, the group released "Theleventhour", namesake of the group which laid the foundation before the name change.
The band blends many influences of rock and metal to achieve their sound. Combining thunderous rhythms, infectious grooves and catchy vocal melodies allowed the band to appeal to a broad spectrum of heavy music listeners.
The band brings their studio recordings to life with their engaging and energetic live performances. Approaching Fiction has graced the stages with legendary rockers from Tool, Guns N' Roses, Iron Maiden, and many more. They have rocked venues from House of Blues SD main stage to The Whiskey a Go Go in LA.
In 2017, the band returned to the studio to record their follow up to "Theleventhour". A change in vocalists helped the band explore exciting new sounds while still bringing a distinct heaviness. The new album, Novaeternum, was recorded and released independently by the band in November of 2017.
