Senate Narrowly Approves Bill Targeting Dark Money

The Senate is going after dark money in political campaigns.  The U.S. Senate voted 50 to 49 to approve a bill that would force politically-active nonprofits to disclose their donors.  The measure is unlikely to pass in the Republican-led U.S. House and President Donald Trump is not expected to sign it if it reached his desk.  The Trump Administration enacted a rule allowing dark money earlier this year.  All the Democrats and Republican Susan Collins of Maine voted in favor.  All the other Republicans voted against it.  The bill was sponsored by Montana Senator Jon Tester and Oregon Senator Ron Wyden.
