A family has filed a lawsuit against Lifetime after their photo was used without their permission in one of the network's Christmas movies. Setiam and Katherine Allah said that they were humiliated when one of the main characters in Christmas Harmony looked at their photo and called them ugly.
The Allahs said that they sent out the photo to 50 family members and friends, none of whom worked for Lifetime, and that they have no idea how the photograph ended up in the film.
In the offending scene, the main character, "Harmony," puts their family photo up on her wall but her love interest tells her to take it down because "they’re ugly."
When the movie premiered in November 2018, Setiam and Katherine said they were embarrassed after receiving multiple calls from their friends about the scene. They accused the network of using their photo for "cheap laughs" and are demanding all of the profits from the movie.
