A North Carolina family and their pet German Shepherd welcomed the birth of 8 puppies last Friday. But much to their surprise, one of the puppies was a bright lime green color while the rest of the puppies in the litter were either white or black.
Shana Stamey told a local news station that despite the birth process going well and all of the puppies appearing to be fine, that she was freaked out over the shocking color.
A vet in the area confirmed that while uncommon, the condition was not life threatening and was definitely temporary. The bright green color is from meconium, which is infant animal stool that contains bile and ends of in the birth sac of the puppy. It's especially noticeable on white animals.
