We all do it. But we don't all do it the same way, and more and more men are admitting that they have to be completely naked to do it. Pooping. It's our body's way of expelling unusable elements from the foods we eat - primarily waste and toxins. There are a variety of reasons why some men need to remove their clothing to be able to poop and in some cases to enjoy the act.
The subject has lead to a number of discussions on Reddit, and other sites which point to these five primary reasons why people (especially guys) need to remove their clothing before they can drop anchor.
Clothing restricts the process:
Clothing, especially apparel like workout wear and shapewear is meant to compress, squish, squeeze and sculpt the body, but anything that restricts the body (especially the abdomen and legs) could also restrict blood flow, which is essential for digesting and expelling waste. It can also be uncomfortable, which doesn't help the process either.
Clothing can also prohibit you from getting in the best position. In other countries, squatting in the only way to go - hence the popularity of the Squatty Potty. Actually, many medical professionals recommend that you try to squat or forward to make elimination faster, easier and more complete. Doing so helps prevent “fecal stagnation,” a prime factor in colon cancer, appendicitis and inflammatory bowel disease.
Getting naked can reduce stress:
Clothing causes some people to stress out, which tightens your muscles, including the sphincter. Removing clothing can send your body a message that it’s time to relax the sphincters and have a bowel movement. Dr. Anthony Komaroff says that when you’re relaxed, you relax the puborectalis muscle and both the internal and external sphincters.
Stress is a big contributor to irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Clothing picks up the stink:
That's pretty self-explanatory. In the words of these Reddit users: "$#!&ing naked is so comfortable you can relax, no restraint around your ankles gives you more leg room, and the smell doesn't stick to your clothes." "I always take my shirt off too, so it doesn't absorb the fumes".
Clothing can get soiled:
Sometimes dropping a deuce gets messy and the last thing you want is to get that mess on your clothes. If you're home, being naked while pooping lets you easily step into the shower from the toilet for a quick, complete rinse off. This Reddit user explained "You don't gotta worry about holding your shirt up, and no pants so you can have leg room. It's all about being comfortable, no restrictions. So you can focus 100% on pooping." Another man wrote: “It started when I was six over a fear that somehow my clothes would get covered in poop.”
It needs to feel primal, like you are an animal:
To some it's just a question of taking on the act the way nature intended, as these Reddit users explain:
"Being completely naked to poop is like anchoring to dock for me. I felt very ready to whatever is gonna happen"
“When I take my clothes off I feel more free to do my business, like animals do. Now I always go full nude.”
“I carried on pooing naked from childhood because it’s natural to me."
“As a kid, I used to insist on taking all of my clothes off when my parents were potty training me, and if I couldn’t take them off I would refuse to do it. It all stems from that.”
"I feel free like an animal."
Psychologist Dr. Stauffer-Kruse told The Sun, that he believes for some men, their need to get naked stems from childhood toilet experiences, stating,, “Some people may feel shame while on the toilet. It all stems back to their parents’ reactions on them when they are potty training and how they felt at that time. They may have been told that poop and getting messy from it, is shameful so they may react by wanting to get rid of their clothes – it makes them feel less psychologically, as well as physically, restricted.”
