Dad Punishes Daughter For Bullying By Making Her Walk 5 Miles To School

Video of a 10-year old girl walking to school in the early morning cold (while dad follows) has gone viral. Some are saying the punishment is too harsh. However, this Ohio dad says he wants to hold his child accountable for her actions and teach her that her behavior was not acceptable.

Kirsten Cox was suspended from school for bullying another student, and since this was her second offense, her dad Matt wanted to make sure it didn't happen again. Matt punished Kirsten by making her walk to school each morning of the 3-day suspension in the chilly 36-degree temperature.  "This is my small way of trying to stop it in my household," Matt said, "I'm not going to be another parent that's just going to brush things under the rug and say 'kids will be kids."

Following the punishment, Kirsten says that she's learned her lesson, because she knows how it feels when people aren't nice, having been bullied by kids that were bigger than her.

With respect to the punishment, Matt says that he would do it again because he believes it made a difference, "I just want the kids to know that words truly do hurt," he explained. "They cut very deep and have lasting effects. I hope that parents hold their kids accountable."
