The Definition For "Woman" Has Officially Changed In San Diego County

In late April, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted 3 to 2 to pass an ordinance that adopts the United Nations Convention for eliminating all forms of discrimination against women.

What this means is that anyone who identifies as a woman in San Diego County, is a woman.

The definition of "women" in San Diego County, now includes transwomen and intersex women. Under the new definition, people who considered themselves to be "women" will be allowed in all county facilities including prisons, homeless shelters, and domestic violence shelters.

Supervisors Nathan Fletcher, Terra Lawson-Remer, and Nora Vargas voted in favor of the ordinance, while Jim Desmond and Joel Anderson opposed it.
