Authorities have confirmed the death of former World Wrestling Entertainment star Brian Christopher Lawler after hanging himself in his jail cell on Saturday. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says officers performed CPR on Lawler and he was transported to a hospital in Memphis where he died on Sunday.
Lawler was placed in custody on July 7 and was booked on charges of driving under the influence, driving on a revoked license and evading arrest.
Lawler has struggled with getting his life back on track after being released by the WWE in 2001 when he was reportedly let go after a drug-related violation. He was best known in WWE as Too Cool's Grandmaster Sexay and competed during the height of the "Attitude Era."
