A survey was just released that found 29% of Americans welcome getting sick in order to get some rest and take a break from their day-to-day routine.
Almost 40% of the 2,300 people polled by OnePoll on behalf of Theraflu, said that being sick gives them an opportunity to focus on themselves and just slow down.
Interestingly enough, half of all respondents said they still like to be productive when sick - the majority of them using downtime to clean the house.
It says something about a society when people feel like they can only break their routine and relax when they're actually sick. Here are the top 5 perks of being sick according to survey respondents:
- Catching up on sleep - 39%
- Laying around all day - 34%
- Binging on TV shows/movies - 26%
- Not going to work - 24%
- Getting some "me time" - 23%
While getting sick may sound like a great way to get some R&R, it should still be avoided. There are lots of nasty flu viruses floating around this winter.
