A Carlsbad woman was seriously injured when a station wagon backed over her, according to police.
A 48-year-old Encinitas man was driving a Subaru Outback and was backing up in the bike lane when he struck a 62-year-old woman around 5pm last night near Carlsbad State Beach.
Police and firefighters arrived and provided advanced life saving treatment and was later taken to the hospital for further treatment of injuries.
The 48-year-old man driving the Subaru remained on the scene. He was not suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs but the case remains under investigation.
