Raymond Rodio III, 48, of Sound Beach, New York, admitted to operating a brothel with 20 women in his parents' home basement since 2014
In August 2018, Suffolk County authorities pulled over Rodio for a routine traffic stop and found a victim in his car. After further investigation, authorities discovered his sex dungeon in his parents' basement located on Lower Rocky Point Road in Sound Beach.
Rodio would lure young girls in their 20s on social media by offering them free drugs. After getting them addicted, the girls would then began having sex for the drugs. He then kept them hooked on drugs, like crack cocaine and heroin, in his parents' basement. The women lived without a shower or toilet and had to use a bucket for everything.
He would advertise their services on different local classifieds and would take the women to various motels around the area to meet with clients. Rodio would keep all of the money made from the prostitutes to buy more drugs.
Rodio's parents, both in their 70s, were unaware of what was going on in their basement. Rodio, who has 2 children of his own, is also behind on child support payments.
Rodio pleaded guilty to prostitution, drug charges, and sex trafficking. When formally sentenced on March 9, 2020, Rodio could be facing 9 years in prison and 5 years probation.
The women involved will be undergoing therapy and counseling.
