San Diego Stays In Red Tier

On September 22, the State of California announced that San Diego County can remain in Tier 2 (Red Tier) of its new classification system for COVID-19 restrictions. The county came very close to moving into Tier 1 (Purple Tier), with an adjusted daily case rate of 6.9, when the state's limit is 7.0.

It was feared that almost 900 confirmed COVID-19 cases from SDSU students would push the county's case rate to a level that would change our designation, to Tier 1 forcing numerous businesses to close or operate outdoors only.
