Time-Lapse Video Captures Light Play of Sun Through Stained Glass Windows

A mesmerizing video called "Light Moves" shows the play of light through stained glass windows. The video was compiled using time-lapse photography shot by Colin Winterbottom at the National Cathedral in Washington D.C.

The inner walls of the cathedral became a canvas for the myriad of colors, shapes and light prisms created as the sun passed over the many large and elaborate stained glass windows of this neo-Gothic structure in our nation's capital. The whole process is truly magical.

The photographer had a unique opportunity to set up the camera on elevated scaffolding while the cathedral underwent repairs for earthquake damage.

The Cathedral Church of Saint Peter and Paul in Washington D.C. is more commonly known as the Washington National Cathedral. Construction on this magnificent structure began in 1907 with a ceremonial address and laying of the cornerstone by then President, Theodore Roosevelt and continued for decades.
