Being the draft geek that I am, I was in heaven watching the 1st round of the draft last night. It was a very unpredictable year. I love when trades happen or a team takes a player that is unexpected. It makes it crazy. And that's what was happening last night. First let's start with the Chargers pick of WR Mike Williams. I love the player but hate the pick. The WR position is one of their stronger positions in my opinion. They already have Keenan Allen, Travis Benjamin, Tyrell Williams and Dontrelle Inman there. Unless they think Keenan is too brittle and want to secure the position, then I don't get it. I know there were teams that wanted to move up to take QBs, I would have tried to trade down and then selected a safety or outside LB to play opposite Melvin Ingram.  I wouldn't have been mad if they took Christian McCaffrey either. They need someone to replace Danny Woodhead and this guy would be perfect. But alas, they went with Williams, who was the top WR on my board, so he will probably be a hell of a player. I thought the 49ers did amazing. I guess John Lynch knows what he is doing. To get the Bears to give up what they did to move up one spot and then to still get their guy, was brilliant. And then to grab Reuben Foster, who fell a ton,  at the end of the round was amazing. They got 2 studs. Washington lucked out and had Jonathan Allen fall to them at 17. Most people assumed he'd be top 3. I also think the Browns did well with their picks. Now for the reaches. The Titans were the first with taking Corey Davis at 5. Like I said, he wasn't even the top WR on my board. But they must love him. We will see if the Chiefs made the right move in trading up to take Patrick Mahomes. That one was a head scratcher for me. I was also pretty surprised when the Raiders took Gareon Conley. With the sexual assault hanging over him, I heard he was gonna fall into the 3rd round. He is a 1st round talent, they just better hope he gets cleared. Over all, there were no big reaches in terms of guys not expected to go in the 1st round. Like no 3rd round talent snuck into the 1st. It was a fun night. Can't wait for rounds 2 & 3 tonight!
