TBT: My Visit To See My Name and Pic In The Radio Hall of Fame!

In 2016 The Jeff and Jer Showgram was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame. NOow, was I there on the show from the very beginning...no. BUT I was there until the end and for many years and so my name made it and so did my pic with the Showgram...and that's cool enough for me! You can see the write up from the Hall of Fame website below and lean a bit of the history of the show there. I joined the Showgram in 2006.

The official write up on the Hall of Fame website:

Jeff Detrow and Jerry Cesak began working together in 1982; Detrow was working mornings in Phoenix as Jeff Elliott, and Cesak (working as Jerry St. James) needed a new partner for his morning show on WMJC/Detroit. After three-year stints at WMJC and later at WFYR/Chicago, the duo moved to KBZT/San Diego in 1988 and enjoyed immediate success with The Jeff and Jer Showgram. This morning show offered music, candid conversation about current events, celebrity interviews and the duo’s madcap, often self-deprecating humor. At the same time, the show was not shy about discussing emotional and often serious topics, ranging from addiction to parental custody to animal welfare.

Abetted by producer Tommy Sablan and later by “co-hosts” Laura Cain, Randy Hoag and Emily Griffiths, the Showgram went to KFMB/San Diego in 1990 before moving to KKLQ/San Diego in 1994 and returning to KFMB in 1998 for an 11-year run. When contract negotiations led to the duo to leave KFMB in 2009, Jeff and Jer produced an internet-only show from Cesak’s garage before taking the Showgram to KYXY/San Diego in 2011.

After Cesak retired from broadcasting in 2015, the show continued on KYXY as Jeff and the Showgram.

The Jeff and Jer Showgram was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2016.
