According to the annual Global Drug Survey it seems as though magic mushrooms appear to be the safest recreational drug.
With only .02% of almost 10,000 people surveyed that reported taking psilocybin hallucinogenic mushrooms reported that they needed any sort of emergency medical treatment.
This survey included over 120,000 participants in 50 different countries and found that the rates of emergency medical treatment were highest for MDMA (ecstasy), LSD (acid), alcohol and cocaine.
Reportedly magic mushrooms can cause panic attacks and confusion according to addiction psychiatrist, Adam Winstock.
This report found that LSD users were 5x more likely than magic mushroom users to seek emergency medical treatment because of a higher difficulty in determining how much of the drug to take.
