The San Diego County Sheriff's Department is hosting a gun buy-back event this weekend in North County.
Officials are giving out $100 gift cards for every handgun, rifle and shotgun turned in at the buyback event, and $200 gift cards for every assault-style rifle.
The goal is to get unwanted weapons off the streets of San Diego County, out of the hands of criminals and out of the reach of children.
Anyone who turns in a gun can remain anonymous, and there will be "no questions" asked.
The buyback event will be held this Sunday, August 28th in the Vista Traffic Court parking lot, off Melrose Drive.
All weapons collected will be destroyed.
