This weekend was the 4th anniversary of the passing of my mother-in-law Rose. It was and to be honest still is such a blow to our family. Not that it is ever good to lose a family member but Rose was the "glue" for my husbands side of the family. Even though it is a sad occasion we started a really nice tradition 3 years ago on the first anniversary of her passing. We go to the florist around the corner from our house and get a beautiful bouquet of roses. In addition to being named Rose she loved roses and would always have fresh cut flowers in her house. We then take a rose from the bouquet and bring it down to the ocean at sunset. We share our thoughts and feelings about Rose, tell her how much we miss her and then throw the rose out in the ocean. This year had an unexpected twist with a crazy low tide at sunset. Just like each year, it was sad yet beautiful all at the same time.
