My junior year of high school I was on our school's dance team. My freshman and sophomore years I was on the cheer/song squad. But I realized that as fun as it is hanging out at the football and basketball games, I was much more into dance than cheer. Our schools dance team was very competitive. So I decided to take a chance, quit cheer and try out for the dance team. I was super stoked when I made the team. But for a high school dance squad they took themselves SOOOOOOOOO SERIOUS!!! If you missed practice for any reason (family death, car accident, etc....) you were immediately removed from the routine and made an alternate. I remember once after we did a week long dance camp our coach commented how happy she was cause after the long week I was finally starting to thin out in the face. I had never even thought I needed to "thin out"....guess who was more critical of their body and weight after that comment?!?!?! Anyway, each year in addition to our main competition routine we also would do a novelty routine. Here is a picture of the whole team in our novelty outfits and one of me working-it during a dress rehearsal.........
