Yesterday I Offended The Internet

OMG....WTF happened on my social media yesterday?!?!?!?  I'll tell you what happened.  I was going tinkle after The Show and as I always love to do on the toilet I was catching up on the world of Instagram.  I come across this post from The Rock a few days ago.  It is a video of him playing this "game" with his 3 year old daughter where she slaps him in the face as hard as she can as he yells at her "you hit like a girl".  I watched and it immediately made me uncomfortable for a few reasons.  #1 don't like the sight of anyone hitting anyone else (old, young, boy, girl, human, animal, etc.).  #2 I feel like the saying "you hit like a girl", "you throw like a girl", etc... is sexist and insulting.  So I posted the below to my social.  Right after I post a sales guy walks into our office and starts chatting my face off.  I go about my day totally forgetting that I had posted how The Rock's video made me uncomfortable.  Last night after dinner I check my social media and OMG, the hateful reaction to my post was real!!!!!  I can't tell you how many times I read "And this is why everyone hates you".  I wasn't expecting this at all.  People were acting like I was calling The Rock a bad dad or I was calling for him to fired from Hollywood.  Nope, just mentioned how the video made me uncomfortable.  I feel this relates to our discussion the other week of kissing family members on the lips.  It makes some of us uncomfortable cause we didn't grow up that way.  Is it right or wrong...not really for any of us to say.  I get that The Rock grew up in a family of wrestlers where this kind of "play" is probably common.  I grew up with a computer programmer mute of a Dad and do-gooder volunteer save the world Mom in a home where nobody even raised their voice at one another.  So we clearly have different upbringings.

Bottom line is that I am totally sorry if my social post about The Rock offended you.  But I stand by my feelings that the video made me uncomfortable and I believe it is totally alright for me to have those feelings without being "hated by everyone".

Here is my post that got everyone hating my guts (clearly more than they did already)....
