At the end of 2007 the hubby and I bought a brand new house in Escondido. Turned out to be our worst real estate decision to date cause that is right when the market took a nice downturn. But it was a really cool house and we learned a ton. The thing that drew us to this house was the really big flat lot that backed up to Henry's Avocados. It was so beautiful and private. But with a new house you get zero landscaping in the back. Of course we decided that "we got this" and did the whole yard ourselves. It probably took a full year (pre-child) but we put in grass, veggie beds, a pergola with a swing, a fountain, retaining walls and so much more. Here is when we first got started, clearing rocks from the entire yard and getting the soil ready..........
