Volunteering In My Old Neighborhood

Did some volunteering up in Escondido this week. I use to live in Escondido in the mid 90's when I was in college and then again in the early 2000's. I've been volunteering once a month with Feeding San Diego. It was a little personal challenge I made to myself at the beginning of the year. So when I saw on their volunteer calendar that they had an opportunity up in Escondido and I hadn't been up yet to see my friend Susan's new house I figured it would be perfect. Susan joined me packing bags and boxes of food to hand out to locals in need of a little extra help. It was a great system they have going on at this place where three times a week they give people bags and boxes full of food they get donated from stores and restaurants that would otherwise have gone to waste. Was a rewarding day so we treated ourselves to some burgers and drinks after..........
