When we moved to the Bird Rock neighborhood in La Jolla we were told a few things. Two things people would mention was that Halloween and 4th of July were both awesome holidays to celebrate in Bird Rock. The 4th of July parade has been one of my favorite things about the neighborhood and every year we have gone for some reason I get emotional seeing the awesome display of community. It's an annual parade that runs through the neighborhood, each year there is a theme and people in the neighborhood get dressed up, decorate their bikes and scooters and some even make home made floats. At the end of the parade there is a big party in the street with a live band, food and games. My daughter who is now 13 was acting like she might be too cool to attend this year. I talked her into it by telling her she can go with her friends and ditch me as soon as we get there. Can't wait for this 4th!
