Coronavirus Can Be Spread Through Money

The World Health Organization (WHO) has has issued a warning that indicates the virus is easier to catch than previously thought.

WHO officials say the virus can infect cash bills, where it can remain active for several days. Some health officials believe the coronavirus can survive outside a human host as long as nine days.

To avoid contracting the virus, health officials are urging people to wash their hands regularly -- especially after handling money.

News agencies are also reporting that the Central Bank of the People's Republic of China is implementing a process to sanitize its cash. The process will include treating bill with UV light and the quarantining it for 7-14 days before allowing it to be recirculated. Money that is circulated in public areas of China's outbreak epicenter (like hospitals, markets, etc) will actually be destroyed.
