Disturbed's "A Reason To Fight" Confronts Mental Illness & Addiction Stigma

When Disturbed hit the road at the beginning of 2019 they dedicated a significant portion of their shows (and a separate stage) to discuss & highlight the message behind “A Reason To Fight” while speaking directly to fans battling with addiction and mental health.

On Thursday they elevated the conversation with a powerful video that is working to raise awareness and reduce the stigma associated with addiction and mental health.

Fans and critics alike have applauded the band’s efforts and uplifting live shows, which include giant screens that flash phone numbers for the National Addiction Hotline (800-662-4357) and the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (800-273-8255).

“Our world is plagued by an epidemic, by a disease that shows no mercy. The demons known as addiction and depression are very real, and they have claimed far too many of those we love, far sooner than they should have left us. Those still with us are fighting a battle they wage every day of their lives, keeping those demons at bay. It’s up to us to show them that they are not alone. That they have nothing to be ashamed of. That we understand, and that we will fight with them, and for them.” – David Draiman

“I know people who’ve battled addiction and have seen it in their face – the shame they have – feeling they’ve let themselves and others down. We wanted to write a song with a positive message for people in that situation to stay hopeful and not give up the fight, as challenging as it may be. It’s an everyday struggle, but there can also be a light at the end of the tunnel.” – Dan Donegan

Number 1 at Rock Radio for 3 weeks, Disturbed presents a brand new video for “A Reason To Fight”, filmed during the Evolution World Tour.

Within our own community, there are countless stories dealing w/ addiction and depression. This video tells those stories, and shines a light on the survivors.
