According to a Gallup Pole, beer is the preferred alcoholic beverage in the U.S.  The report says that 4 in 10 people drink beer most often.  So how much beer do American's drink? The U.S. Census reports that in 2017, consumers 21 and older consumed 26.9 gallons of beer and cider per person. Roughly 73% of the nation (about 239 million people) are actually of legal drinking age.
